Poland and UK Collaborate on Helicopter Training and Deliver MiG Jets to Ukraine

DEFENSE

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Polish President Karol Nawrocki agreed to train Polish helicopter pilots in the UK, starting in summer 2026 under the NFTE programme. This includes training on AH-64E Apache helicopters.

Poland operates Mi-24D/V and AH-64D helicopters, transitioning to 96 AH-64E units by 2028. Training will be conducted virtually, avoiding live fire exercises. Poland also committed to delivering up to nine MiG fighter jets to Ukraine, enhancing Ukraine's aerial capabilities amid regional tensions.

This military aid reflects deepening defense ties between Poland and Ukraine and aims to bolster regional security. The MiG jets represent a significant upgrade for Ukraine's military arsenal and symbolize Eastern European cooperation against threats.
