Recently, Poland signed a €52 million contract for two used Saab 340s, expected to serve as temporary solutions for about ten years. Additionally, the country is acquiring four aerostat-based platforms from the U.S. under a $1 billion deal to enhance its surveillance capabilities.

The Polish Air Force intends to replace its Saab 340 AEW&C aircraft due to their aging radar and limited lifespan. The service is considering platforms such as Saab's GlobalEye and L3Harris' CAEW, though no formal acquisition process has begun.
Poland signed a €52 million contract for two used Saab 340s in July 2023, delivered by June 2024, but these are seen as temporary solutions with operational life expected to last about ten years. The E-7A Wedgetail was deemed too expensive.
Poland is also acquiring four aerostat-based platforms under a $1 billion deal with the U.S. The new AEW&C platform must meet various operational requirements, including maximum flight altitude and threat detection capabilities.
