Poland to Establish FSRU LNG Terminal with GAP-FABE-UNITEK Consortium
Poland is developing a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) LNG terminal, including a dedicated mooring facility, subsea pipeline, and land-based gas pipelines. The FSRU unit will be chartered from South Korea, while the consortium of GAP Insaat, FABE Polska, and UNITEK Insaat will handle construction on the Polish side.
The project includes the creation of an artificial island for the FSRU, connecting the terminal to the national gas transmission system. The consortium has extensive experience in LNG terminal construction, previously completing a similar project in Turkey.
Rigorous quality control measures are being implemented throughout the project to ensure compliance with industry standards, including pre-shipment inspections and non-destructive testing. The terminal aims to enhance Poland's gas supply security, with a capacity to receive up to 6 billion cubic meters of gas annually.
