Pond Park Road East Closure for Watermain Upgrade Scheduled for Summer 2026
A section of Pond Park Road East will close for six weeks starting July 1, 2026, for a critical watermain upgrade. The new pipeline aims to enhance water supply reliability for Lisburn area customers, addressing previous service interruptions due to system failures.

NI Water will close Pond Park Road East from July 1, 2026, for up to six weeks to replace 660m of deteriorated watermain. The upgrade will involve laying a larger diameter pipe alongside the existing one, which will remain operational during construction.
Traffic management plans include suspending bus stops in the area and establishing a diversion route via Glenavy Road and Sheepwalk Road. Coordination with NIE for concurrent electricity network upgrades aims to minimize disruption.
The project is a high priority for NI Water, with efforts to expedite completion, including extended working hours. The enhanced infrastructure will improve water supply stability, particularly during peak demand and emergencies.
