Portugal's Navictus to Build Nav-45 Modular Unmanned Surface Vehicle for Defense and Export
Navictus, based in Portugal, is set to begin construction of the Nav-45 multi-purpose modular USV in early March 2026, with sea trials commencing in June. The USV features a modular design for various missions, including surveillance and reconnaissance, and incorporates AI for target detection. It aims for both the Portuguese Navy and export markets, offering two operational business models: 'fleet-as-a-service' and a turn-key system.

Portugal's Navictus will start constructing the Nav-45 modular Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) in March 2026, following design work from October 2025 to February 2026. The hull is being built by União Construtora Naval, with completion expected by late March.
The Nav-45 is fully autonomous, designed for various missions, and includes advanced features such as AI for target classification and a range of connectivity systems. Sea trials will begin in June 2026. Navictus plans to offer the USV to the Portuguese Navy and for export, utilizing two business models: 'fleet-as-a-service' and a turn-key purchase option.
