PowerUP, an Estonian energy technology company, is developing hydrogen fuel-cell generators for use in Ukraine, where they are replacing diesel generators on the front lines. The company has secured €10 million in Series A funding to enhance the production of these generators, which are silent, emission-free, and suitable for indoor use.
PowerUP's technology is already being utilized for charging drone batteries and supporting defense applications, with systems priced between €4,000 and €50,000. The company is also targeting telecommunications and medical infrastructure as key markets.
With growing interest in hydrogen as a local energy source, especially in Southern Europe, PowerUP aims to expand its reach and support the reconstruction of Ukraine post-conflict. Additionally, the company has four ongoing projects with the European Space Agency focused on energy solutions for space missions.
