Prayagraj Development Authority Finalizes Depot Site for Metrolite Project in Cheoki
The Prayagraj Development Authority has finalized a depot site in Cheoki for the Metrolite project's second route, estimated to cost over Rs 12,000 crore. This decision aims to improve public transport connectivity in Prayagraj and ease traffic pressure. The depot will be developed on land belonging to a closed private company along Mirzapur Road, instead of Army land. The Metrolite system will feature a 44km network with 39 stations and two depots for maintenance, with the Cheoki site serving the second corridor.

The Metrolite project in Prayagraj has received a significant boost as the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) has finalized a depot site at Cheoki for the project's second route, which is estimated to cost over Rs 12,000 crore. The land, located along Mirzapur Road, was chosen after the PDA dropped plans to build on Army land.
Each depot will cover 14 hectares to support maintenance and operational needs. The Metrolite system will operate on two corridors, spanning 44km with 39 stations, with the Parade Ground proposed as a central interchange. The decision to relocate the depot aims to streamline execution by avoiding complications associated with defense land.
