Premier Explosives Limited (PEL) is establishing a ₹500 crore defence explosives and raw materials manufacturing unit in Muttarasalli village, SPSR Nellore district. The project will cover 450 acres and be executed in three phases.

The company chose this location due to its proximity to ISRO's Satish Dhawan Space Centre and existing contracts with DRDO and ISRO. Phase I will produce medium-calibre ammunition and pyro devices, Phase II will focus on bomb filling and artillery shells, while Phase III will include a TNT manufacturing plant. The project is expected to create about 2,050 jobs and will ultimately have a production capacity of four lakh medium- and large-calibre rounds and other explosives.
