President Marcos Appoints Andro Val Abayon as Rear Admiral and PSC Commander

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. administered the donning of rank of rear admiral to Andro Val Abayon, the newly appointed commander of the Presidential Security Command (PSC), on January 12, 2026, at Malacañang Palace. Abayon was elevated from the rank of commodore in the Philippine Navy and officially appointed as the 43rd PSC commander on November 20, 2025.

The PSC is responsible for the security of the President, First Family, and government seat. Abayon has held several significant positions within the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), including Commander of the Naval Special Warfare Force and Director of the AFP Leadership Development Center. He graduated from the Philippine Military Academy in 1994 and has completed various military training programs, including at the Joint Military Intelligence Training Center in Washington D.C. in 2016 and the US Naval War College in 2020.
