Pune Students Win First Place in International Space Contest with Sustainable Agriculture Model
Students from Vidya Valley School in Pune won first place in the Ninth Grade Small Group Category at the 2025 Live Healthy in Space International Contest, organized by the National Space Society. Their project, 'Kosmosagri - A Self-Sustaining Agricultural Settlement for Healthy Living in Space,' presents a sustainable food production model located at the Sun-Mars L1 Lagrange Point, utilizing solar energy.

Vidya Valley School students from Pune secured first place in the 2025 Live Healthy in Space International Contest, with the project 'Kosmosagri - A Self-Sustaining Agricultural Settlement for Healthy Living in Space.' The model proposes sustainable food production at the Sun-Mars L1 Lagrange Point, ensuring solar energy access.
The team, mentored by Vandana Suryawanshi, includes Krishiv Jethwani, Aadya Veshvikar, Aarya Kadam, Aarini Dubey, and Rudra Nagarkar. The design features various farming techniques, automated monitoring systems, and integrates the Four Sisters polyculture method with aquaponics. Energy is generated through solar panels, and water is recycled for agricultural use.
