Punjab Police Arrests Raman Kumar for Links to Pakistan-based Terrorist Shahzad Bhatti
Punjab Police's State Special Operations Cell arrested Raman Kumar, a 28-year-old daily wager from Jammu, for alleged connections to Pakistan-based terrorist Shahzad Bhatti. The operation occurred in Mohali district during a targeted effort ahead of Republic Day.
Kumar is identified as a logistics facilitator for Bhatti's syndicate, which is linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba. Authorities found encrypted communications on seized phones, indicating plans for grenade attacks on security forces.
Kumar was radicalized online two years ago and received directives from Bhatti for weapon smuggling through Punjab's borders. Seized items include ₹3.5 lakh in hawala cash, two pistols, and terror propaganda. Kumar faces charges under UAPA and has been remanded for ten days as investigations continue, with support from Jammu & Kashmir Police.
