Purdue Launches $19 Million AI Cloud Lab for Advanced Materials Research
Purdue University is establishing the Intelligent Codesign Cloud Lab for Non-Equilibrium and Low-Dimensional Materials (ICoN-PCL) with $19 million in NSF funding. This platform aims to enhance the development of advanced materials by integrating physical labs, simulations, and AI tools, facilitating faster commercialization of discoveries.

Purdue University's ICoN-PCL initiative will utilize a $19 million investment from the National Science Foundation to create a cloud-based laboratory platform. This platform will support research in semiconductors, aerospace, defense, and energy systems, connecting various stages of materials research and manufacturing.
Features will include access to advanced equipment, integrated datasets, AI-assisted planning, and real-time digital twin technology. The project focuses on two areas: advanced two-dimensional materials for electronics and materials for extreme environments.
