Shivaji University Researchers Obtain Design Patent for Wastewater Purification Device
A design patent for a low-cost wastewater purification device has been secured by researchers from Shivaji University, India. This innovative technology aims to mitigate pollution from textile and chemical industries, offering a sustainable solution for industrial wastewater treatment.

Researchers from Shivaji University have developed a patented device aimed at treating industrial wastewater using semiconductor photocatalysis. This device incorporates a composite material of graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) to effectively degrade toxic compounds in industrial effluents.
Its implementation is expected to significantly reduce environmental damage caused by untreated wastewater, particularly from textile and chemical sectors. The project aligns with the objectives of India's National Education Policy (NEP), promoting cleaner water management. The technology could enhance community access to safer water resources, while also supporting industrial compliance with environmental regulations.
