Qatar Allocates $434 Million to Support Lebanon's Energy Sector and Armed Forces
Qatar has announced a financial assistance package of $434.2 million for Lebanon, with $400 million allocated to stabilize the country's energy sector amidst ongoing economic challenges. The funding will also support scholarships, the Lebanese Armed Forces, and youth empowerment initiatives. This commitment underscores Qatar's role as a key donor in Lebanon, particularly in efforts to restore security and address the aftermath of recent conflicts.

Qatar announced a financial assistance package of $434.2 million for Lebanon, primarily aimed at addressing the country's energy crisis. Of this amount, $400 million will be directed towards stabilizing Lebanon's energy sector.
Additional funds will be used for scholarships, support for the Lebanese Armed Forces, and youth empowerment initiatives. The announcement was made during a visit by Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed Al Khulaifi, to Beirut.
Qatar's ongoing support comes as Lebanon faces economic challenges, including a significant reconstruction bill from the 2024 conflict with Israel, which caused extensive damage. Qatar has been a key donor, particularly in supporting the Lebanese army, which is tasked with disarming Hezbollah and restoring security in the region.
