Qatar Central Bank Issues $632.2 Million in Ijara Sukuk, Oversubscribed at $1.92 Billion
The Qatar Central Bank issued Ijara Sukuk worth approximately $632.2 million, attracting bids totaling $1.92 billion and indicating strong investor confidence with an oversubscription of more than three times. The issuance, which includes two tranches with maturities of three and five years at a yield of 4.150 percent, supports Qatar's strategy to enhance its sovereign debt market and local currency development. This move aligns with projections of a 5 percent average real GDP growth from 2026 to 2028, driven by the North Field LNG project and a growing non-hydrocarbon sector.

Qatar Central Bank (QCB) issued Ijara Sukuk worth QAR2.3 billion (approximately $632.2 million) on behalf of the Ministry of Finance. This issuance reflects the growth of Qatar's sovereign debt market, focusing on Shariah-compliant financial instruments.
The issuance comprised two tranches of QAR1.150 billion each, with maturities of three and five years, both yielding 4.150 percent. The issuance attracted bids totaling around QAR7 billion ($1.92 billion), indicating strong investor confidence and an oversubscription by more than three times.
This demand primarily came from local and regional Islamic banks and investment funds.
