QatarEnergy to Boost LNG Output by 85% with North Field Expansion
QatarEnergy announced plans to increase liquefied natural gas (LNG) production capacity by 85% through the North Field expansion, following the discovery of an additional 240 trillion cubic feet of gas reserves. The North Field West liquefaction project is set to produce 16 million metric tons per year, contributing to a total capacity of 142 million metric tons by 2030. Construction has begun with international partners, as QatarEnergy seeks buyers for 60 million metric tons from its new projects.

Qatar plans to increase LNG production capacity by 85%, confirmed by CEO Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi of QatarEnergy. An appraisal revealed an additional 240 Tcf of gas reserves in the North Field, raising total reserves to over 2,000 Tcf.
The North Field West liquefaction project will produce 16 mmty, complementing existing projects to reach 142 mmty capacity by 2030. Construction has started, with international partners involved. The expansion comes amid global project delays and U.S. export license suspensions. QatarEnergy aims to secure buyers for 60 mmty from NFE and NFS projects alongside NFW.
