Raytheon Secures $708.9 Million Contract for StormBreaker Precision Guided Bomb
Raytheon Technologies' Missiles and Defense division has been awarded a contract worth up to $708.9 million for the production of the StormBreaker bomb, continuing through March 2030. The contract, granted by the U.S. Air Force's Life Cycle Management Center, highlights the growing global demand for this advanced munitions system, with eight NATO partner countries, including Belgium, set to receive deliveries.

The StormBreaker bomb features a tri-mode seeker, allowing it to engage moving targets in adverse weather and nighttime conditions, a significant advancement over previous munitions. This contract encompasses the production of complete projectiles, containers, test equipment, and spare parts.
The versatility of the StormBreaker enables pilots to target various mobile threats, including tanks and ships, while maintaining a compact form factor that allows aircraft like the F-15E Strike Eagle to carry multiple bombs. The increasing interest from NATO allies for advanced precision weapons, especially following the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, underscores the strategic importance of the StormBreaker in modern warfare. Raytheon Missiles and Defense's role as the sole producer of this system ensures continued support for U.S. and allied forces through the next decade.
