RDC: ARE Grants Compliance Notices to GREEN WORLD ENERGIE and CNMC Congo in Lualaba and Haut-Katanga
The Electricity Regulatory Authority (ARE) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has issued compliance notices to GREEN WORLD ENERGIE and CNMC Congo for their energy projects. GREEN WORLD ENERGIE received two notices for a solar photovoltaic plant and an electricity marketing license, aimed at reducing CO₂ emissions and creating jobs, while CNMC Congo was granted eligible customer status to source electricity from alternative suppliers for its copper operations, emphasizing local socio-economic development.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Electricity Regulatory Authority (ARE) has issued three compliance notices to two operators in the energy and mining sectors. GREEN WORLD ENERGIE SARL received two notices, one for an independent electricity production license from a 200 MW solar photovoltaic plant with a 581 MWh storage system in Mutshatsha, Lualaba, and another for an electricity marketing license.
These licenses are part of a Power Purchase Agreement with KAMOA COPPER SA. The project aims to reduce CO₂ emissions by 75,750 tons annually and create nearly 300 jobs. The third compliance notice went to CNMC Congo Compagnie Minière SARL, granting it eligible customer status for its site in Likasi, Haut-Katanga, allowing it to source electricity from alternative suppliers to support its copper operations while committing to local socio-economic development.
