Rear Adm. Michael Richman spoke to Navy Reserve Engineering Duty Officers (NREDOs) on January 27 in Washington, D.C., emphasizing their similar qualifications to active duty EDOs, which take about five years to complete.
NREDOs support Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) across key programs like Trident and Conventional Prompt Strike. Richman identified three focus pillars: maintenance, diving/salvage/heavy lift, and lethality.
He highlighted the challenge of ensuring reservists maintain readiness for active duty deployment. Richman, promoted to rear admiral in October 2022, leads SSP's SLCM-N and CPS programs, enhancing the Navy's regional strike capabilities.
