ReconAfrica Achieves First Hydrocarbon Production in Namibia's Kavango West Well
ReconAfrica has successfully produced hydrocarbons from the Kavango West 1X well in Namibia, marking a significant milestone for onshore oil and gas exploration in the region. The company is advancing to test the Huttenberg formation, which contains a significant hydrocarbon pay zone.

ReconAfrica reported the successful production of hydrocarbons from its Kavango West 1X well in Namibia, specifically from the Elandshoek formation. Preliminary testing began on June 8, producing natural gas through three flow tests in the uppermost zone.
Laboratory analysis of hydrocarbon samples is underway in the United States, with results expected soon. The company plans to test three additional zones in the shallower Huttenberg formation, which has been identified with 76 net metres of hydrocarbon pay.
Testing each zone may take up to 10 days, with an operational update anticipated in late August. ReconAfrica, in partnership with BW Energy and NAMCOR, holds significant interests in the project, emphasizing a focus on enhancing production rates through potential horizontal drilling strategies.
