Red Deer Polytechnic Expands Manufacturing Technology Centre with $12.9M Alberta Government Funding
Red Deer Polytechnic is on track to complete the expansion of its manufacturing and technology centre by July 2026. The project, initiated in May 2025, will increase the Centre for Innovation in Manufacturing - Technology Access Centre's space from 15,000 to 25,000 square feet, enhancing applied research and advanced manufacturing capabilities. The Government of Alberta provided $12.9 million in funding to support this initiative, which aims to benefit 450 post-secondary students annually and an additional 2,000 learners by 2030.

Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) is expanding its Centre for Innovation in Manufacturing - Technology Access Centre (CIM-TAC), with construction expected to finish by July 2026. The expansion will increase the facility from 15,000 to 25,000 square feet, focusing on advanced manufacturing technologies, including Industry 4.0 and robotics.
Currently, the project is at the rough-in stage, with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems being installed. New equipment is set to arrive in May, followed by commissioning. The Government of Alberta funded the project with $12.9 million. The expanded facility will support approximately 450 post-secondary students annually and enhance training for an additional 2,000 learners by 2030.
