ReGen Technology Develops Solar Device for Desalination, Negotiates Projects in China and Morocco
ReGen Technology Holdings Hong Kong Limited is developing a solar-powered seawater desalination device to address water scarcity in drought-hit areas. The system is designed to be less expensive than traditional desalination plants, costing under $1.4 million.
It operates on solar energy, using heat to evaporate saltwater and collect fresh water, and is scalable based on demand. ReGen plans to launch the device in 2027 and has received $600,000 from Hong Kong Cyberport and another $600,000 from the University of Hong Kong. The company is negotiating a project in Jiangsu, China, and exploring approximately 100 sites in Morocco, while also considering markets in Cyprus, Gambia, Spain, Chile, and the Philippines.
