Reliance Industries to Launch 10 GW Solar Manufacturing Giga Factory Amid New Energy Investments
Reliance Industries Ltd is set to launch a 10 GW solar manufacturing giga factory, aiming for a total capacity of 20 GW for its own use by 2026. The company has invested approximately ₹80,000 crore in its new energy business, which includes solar, green hydrogen, and battery production, with commercial sales of solar modules expected to begin once operational targets are met. The solar energy generated will support various sectors, including data centers and petrochemicals, while RIL also develops a green fuels ecosystem.

Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) is advancing its new energy business, focusing on a 10 GW solar manufacturing giga factory, with plans for a total capacity of 20 GW for captive use. The polysilicon and glass components are projected to be commissioned by 2026.
Revenue from solar energy will begin once RIL starts selling modules to its renewable power project in Kutch and external customers. Current power from solar modules will serve data centres, refineries, petrochemicals, green hydrogen, and polysilicon production.
RIL has committed around ₹80,000 crore to the new energy business in the third quarter, part of a broader investment strategy encompassing solar, green hydrogen, batteries, and fuel cells. Commercial sales of solar modules will begin at an unspecified future date, contingent on reaching a certain operational scale. The company is also developing a green fuels ecosystem and exploring pricing benchmarks for green hydrogen.
