Renewable Energy Accounts for 81% of Portugal's February Electricity Consumption
In February, renewable energy sources provided 81% of Portugal's electricity, with consumption rising 5.2% year-on-year. Hydroelectric plants achieved a record productivity index of 1.97, while wind farms recorded 1.29. Solar energy saw a decline to 0.59 due to unfavorable weather. Natural gas consumption increased by 24%, primarily driven by the electricity production segment, which grew by 83%. The Sines LNG terminal supplied 76% of the national gas provisioning.

However, solar energy recorded its lowest February index at 0.59 due to adverse weather conditions, despite an increase in installed capacity. Natural gas consumption surged by 24%, with the electricity production segment experiencing an 83% growth. The Sines LNG terminal was the main source for national gas provisioning, supplying 76% of the total, primarily from Nigeria, the U.S., and Russia.
