Rep. Wittman Secures $2.2 Million for Shore Power Infrastructure at Naval Weapons Station Yorktown
Rep. Rob Wittman presented $2.2 million to Naval Weapons Station Yorktown for shore power infrastructure for Virginia-class submarines, secured through Community Project Funding. The funds will enable the construction of a loading and unloading substation to enhance support capabilities for these submarines.

Rep. Rob Wittman presented $2.2 million to Naval Weapons Station Yorktown on Feb. 11 for the construction of shore power infrastructure for Virginia-class submarines. The funding, secured through the Community Project Funding process, aims to create a loading and unloading substation as the base currently lacks the capacity for maximum shore power. The House of Representatives passed this funding on Nov. 12, 2025, as part of H.R. 5371, which also allocated $1.5 billion to the Navy's Shipyard Infrastructure Optimization program.
