Rescue Efforts for 10 Marooned Villagers on Save River in Chipinge District
Ten villagers have been stranded on Lisungwe Island in the Save River, Chipinge District, for four days due to rising water levels. Rescue operations involving the Zimbabwe National Army, police, and private boat operators are underway, following previous warnings against farming in the area due to flooding risks. Authorities urge citizens to adhere to safety guidelines during this emergency.

Ten villagers are marooned on Lisungwe Island in the Save River, Mahenye Village, Chipinge District, due to rising water levels. The Chipinge District Development Coordinator, Mr. William Mashava, confirmed that government agencies and private experts are involved in the rescue operations.
The villagers have been stranded for four days, engaging in farming and fishing activities on the island. Authorities had previously warned against farming in the area due to similar flooding issues last year.
The Zimbabwe National Army, Zimbabwe Republic Police Sub Aqua Unit, and private operators with boats have been mobilized for the evacuation. Citizens are urged to follow guidance from authorities.
