Residents of Msus, Libya, Call for Urgent Support Amid Dire Living Conditions
Residents of Msus, Libya, are facing severe living conditions exacerbated by a recent sandstorm, prompting appeals for inclusion in national reconstruction plans. Located 130 kilometers from Benghazi, the village suffers from inadequate infrastructure, prolonged power outages, and acute water shortages.
Local resident Khaled Al-Awami urged key Libyan authorities, including the General Command of the Libyan National Army and the Prime Minister, to address these issues. The storm revealed the fragility of existing public services and highlighted the dangerous state of the road linking Msus to Soluq.
Many homes are made of corrugated zinc, providing insufficient protection against extreme weather. The local hospital is critically under-resourced, lacking medical supplies and staff. Residents feel neglected in national development efforts and seek urgent attention from the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund to improve health, education, and housing services.
