Rheinmetall and Deutsche Telekom Collaborate on Anti-Drone Defense System
Rheinmetall and Deutsche Telekom are developing a protective system against drones and cyber threats, utilizing their respective technologies. This initiative addresses the increasing challenge posed by drone operations over mobile networks, enhancing security for critical infrastructure.
Rheinmetall and Deutsche Telekom are collaborating to develop an anti-drone defense system, focusing on early detection and neutralization of drones through jamming signals and interceptors. Telekom will leverage its mobile network expertise, while Rheinmetall will integrate additional sensors and effectors, including lasers.
Current drone operations in Germany primarily utilize Radio Frequency (RF) for control, which Telekom aims to counteract using passive RF sensors. As mobile networks improve, the risk of drone control via the Internet increases, creating new challenges for security. The collaboration also includes research with the Hamburg Bundeswehr University to enhance detection capabilities within mobile networks, aiming to address both military and civilian drone threats.
