Rheinmetall and Space Norway Forge Maritime Space Surveillance Partnership
Rheinmetall AG and Space Norway AS have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance space-based defense capabilities focused on Maritime Domain Awareness. This collaboration aims to leverage satellite communications and sensor integration to address the growing need for maritime surveillance in strategic regions.

Rheinmetall AG and Space Norway AS signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance cooperation in space capabilities for defense, particularly in Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA). This agreement facilitates joint assessments of satellite communications, sensors, and mission systems integration.
Key to this partnership is the integration of Space Norway's C-band SAR capabilities alongside Rheinmetall's existing X-band SAR systems. The combined use of these technologies is critical for effective maritime surveillance in the Arctic and North Atlantic. This strategic cooperation aligns with the Hansa Agreement, which aims to enhance bilateral defense capabilities, addressing existing gaps in security preparedness.
