Röhm Implements Chemical Recycling Technology for MMA Production
Röhm is launching a novel chemical recycling technology at its Worms site aimed at producing high-quality methyl methacrylate (MMA) from polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA). This initiative is part of the European Recycling Alliance, targeting increased recycling rates and sustainable material cycles in Europe by 2027.

Röhm is investing in a new technology for recycling polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) into high-quality methyl methacrylate (MMA) at its Worms facility, set to begin operations in summer 2027. The innovative method utilizes depolymerization to achieve over 90% yield, facilitating integration into existing production processes.
This initiative is a significant step towards establishing a closed and scalable material cycle within the European Recycling Alliance for PMMA, which aims to enhance recycling rates across Europe. Röhm's efforts, supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, reflect a commitment to reducing dependence on fossil fuels and optimizing resource efficiency.
