Röhm's Bay City MMA Plant Achieves Full-Scale Operation with LiMA Technology
Röhm's Bay City, Texas plant has reached full-scale production of methyl methacrylate (MMA) utilizing proprietary LiMA technology, marking a significant advancement in the methacrylate industry. This facility, the first C2-based MMA production site in North America, enhances regional supply chains and domestic manufacturing capabilities, crucial for multiple industries.

Röhm's Bay City plant is now fully operational, representing the first global application of its LiMA technology at industrial scale. With an annual production capacity of 250,000 tons of MMA, the facility strengthens supply security for North American customers by using local feedstocks like ethylene and natural gas, thus positioning production closer to end markets.
The investment, supported by Advent International with approximately $1.6 billion, highlights a commitment to innovation and sustainability. LiMA technology offers up to 42% reductions in energy and water usage compared to traditional methods.
The plant also incorporates advanced digital systems and constructed wetlands for responsible water management. This operational capability positions Röhm as a preferred supplier in the MMA market.
