Rio Tinto Closes Diavik Diamond Mine; Deepvein Launches DeepSight Exploration System
Rio Tinto has ceased operations at the Diavik diamond mine, impacting diamond supply. Concurrently, Deepvein Mining's DeepSight Exploration system aims to revolutionize mineral exploration through advanced robotics, potentially reducing costs and exploration times significantly.

Rio Tinto has officially ended production at its Diavik diamond mine, affecting diamond supply dynamics. Meanwhile, Deepvein Mining has launched DeepSight Exploration, an integrated platform combining drone swarms and quadruped robots to enhance mineral exploration.
This system has been validated at a copper project in Namibia and is designed to reduce exploration cycles by 30 to 50 percent and lower costs by about 40 percent. The approach also aims to improve safety in challenging field conditions. The closure of the Diavik mine may lead to increased competition for diamond resources, while the adoption of robotics in exploration could reshape the industry landscape.
