RNG Coalition Launches Virginia Facility Amid 1,000 Site Goal by 2030
The RNG Coalition has inaugurated a renewable natural gas facility at Oakmulgee Dairy Farm, part of a goal for 1,000 operational sites by 2030. This facility employs anaerobic digestion to convert dairy manure and food waste into pipeline-quality RNG, marking a significant step in the sector's expansion.

The RNG Coalition's new facility at Oakmulgee Dairy Farm in Virginia represents progress towards its target of 1,000 operational RNG sites in North America by 2030. Developed by Vanguard Renewables, the plant utilizes anaerobic digestion and advanced depackaging technology to produce RNG from dairy manure and food waste.
This project is part of a joint venture with TotalEnergies, and AstraZeneca will be the offtaker for the gas, which will support its operations in the U.S. The RNG sector aims to address methane emissions from over 43,000 organic waste sources by 2050. With 500 operational facilities achieved in 2025, the sector plans to double this number in five years, indicating a robust growth trajectory.
