The Royal New Zealand Air Force's Boeing 757-200, under callsign KIW839, arrived in Brasília on March 4, 2026, during a South American tour led by Foreign Minister Winston Peters. The tour began on February 28, with the flight route including Papeete, Easter Island, Buenos Aires, and Montevideo.

After Brazil, the aircraft will fly to Chile. New Zealand is replacing its Boeing 757s with A321XLRs expected to arrive in 2028, as part of increasing military spending to 2% of GDP. The RNZAF is also preparing to deploy C-130J Hercules aircraft to the Middle East to assist New Zealanders affected by regional conflicts.
