Robinson Helicopter Launches Unmanned Subsidiary and Unveils R66 Turbinetruck
Robinson Helicopter Company has launched a new subsidiary, Robinson Unmanned, and introduced the R66 'Turbinetruck', an unmanned version of the R66 Turbine. The aircraft, developed using Sikorsky's Matrix autonomy system, has a 1,500-pound payload capacity and is designed for both military and commercial operations. Initial military applications will focus on counter UAS testing, while commercial opportunities include oil-and-gas logistics. Robinson aims for the first flight in early 2027 and will be headquartered in Wilmington, Massachusetts.

Robinson Helicopter Company has launched Robinson Unmanned, a subsidiary focused on unmanned aviation, unveiled at the Verticon tradeshow. The R66 'Turbinetruck', an unmanned version of the R66 Turbine, features Sikorsky's Matrix autonomy system and a 1,500-pound payload capacity.
It targets military and commercial markets, particularly defense logistics and oil-and-gas operations. The first Turbinetruck structure is built in Torrance, California, with integration work at Sikorsky in Connecticut. Robinson aims for the first flight in early 2027 and will take orders from military and commercial customers at Verticon.
