Rolls-Royce Completes F130 Engine Tests for B-52 Bomber Modernization
In 2021, the U.S. Air Force awarded Rolls-Royce a contract worth over $2.6 billion for 608 F130 engines for B-52 bombers. Concurrently, Boeing received a $2 billion contract for integration and development work. Rolls-Royce has completed key altitude and operational tests for the F130 at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex in Tennessee, focusing on engine stability under non-ideal airflow conditions. Following these tests, the program will move to system integration and dual-pod testing at NASA's Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.
