Romania Advocates for Accelerated Defense Production at EU COMPET Meeting
During the informal COMPET meeting in Nicosia on February 2-3, Romania advocated for accelerating the transition from prototypes to industrial-scale defense production. The Romanian delegation, led by MEDAT Secretary of State Viorel Baltaretu, stressed the importance of a predictable framework for the defense sector and integrating local companies into European value chains.
Romania highlighted a €535 million investment agreement with Rheinmetall for a gunpowder factory as a significant project.
