Romanian Army's 3.4 Billion Lei Truck Contract with Geo-Sting SRL
The Romanian Army's procurement of nearly 3,000 Iveco trucks, initiated in 2018, faces delays with contract fulfillment expected into 2026. Significant funds are reportedly redirected to Geo-Sting SRL, complicating the supply chain and raising concerns over contractual compliance and military readiness.

The Romanian Ministry of National Defense (MApN) signed a contract in late 2019 with Iveco Defense Vehicles SpA for the supply of 2,909 trucks. However, components are primarily assembled by Geo-Sting SRL, controlled by former PNL deputy Georgică Dumitru, leading to delays that may extend fulfillment into 2026.
The deadline for delivery was set for late 2023 to early 2024. MApN states that the assembly facility complies with legal requirements for military equipment production. Despite issues, MApN has no plans to terminate the contract, indicating potential risks in military logistics and operational capacity.
