Romanian Government Allocates 1.6 Billion Lei for Military Budget Supplementation
The Romanian Government has allocated 1.6 billion lei to enhance the military budget for the Ministry of National Defense, focusing on fulfilling procurement contracts and modernizing air defense systems to C-RAM standards. This funding includes 1.3 billion lei for various military needs and 300 million lei for infrastructure improvements at Mihail Kogălniceanu base, as well as the purchase of Patriot PAC-2 missiles through NATO.

On December 23, the Romanian Government allocated 1.6 billion lei from the budget reserve fund to supplement the budget of the Ministry of National Defense (MApN). These funds will be used to fulfill military procurement contracts, including the modernization of air defense systems to C-RAM standards for countering artillery shells and rockets, similar to the Iron Dome system. The government approved two resolutions: one for 1.3 billion lei and another for 300 million lei for infrastructure at Mihail Kogălniceanu base and for purchasing Patriot PAC-2 missiles through the NATO Support and Procurement Agency.
