Royal Navy Initiates Project TALON for Rapid Counter-Drone Capability on Ships

DEFENSE

The Royal Navy is pursuing Project TALON to establish a swiftly deployable counter-drone capability for its vessels. The project seeks systems capable of detecting, tracking, identifying, and defeating uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) with minimal integration.

The Ministry of Defence aims for rapid procurement, focusing on mature technologies that can be installed quickly, ideally within a month of identification. The operational requirements include defeating multiple targets, with a defended area ranging from 100 km² to 2,500 km². Systems should operate autonomously and integrate seamlessly with existing ship interfaces while maintaining minimal maintenance demands.
