Royal Thai Army Signs 1 Billion Baht Agreement for VN1 Armoured Vehicles from China
The Royal Thai Army has finalized a 1 billion baht agreement to procure VN1 wheeled armoured vehicles from China, funded by the 2025 fiscal year defence budget. The contract, signed by RTA officials and representatives from China North Industries Corporation, aims to enhance border security along the Thai-Cambodian frontier as part of the Army's modernization strategy.

The Royal Thai Army (RTA) has signed a procurement agreement valued at approximately 1 billion baht for VN1 wheeled armoured vehicles from China, funded by the 2025 fiscal year defence budget. The agreement was signed by Lt Gen Natthaporn Khwan-yam of the Army Ordnance Department and Liu Jinkui of China North Industries Corporation (Norinco) at Norinco's headquarters in Beijing.
This contract includes the acquisition of additional VN1 8×8 armoured personnel carriers, finalizing the RTA's planned procurement under the current budget cycle. The purchase is aimed at enhancing border security, particularly along the Thai-Cambodian frontier, and is part of the RTA's long-term modernization strategy.
