Russia Proposes Local Production of Upgraded T-90MS Battle Tanks in India
Russia has proposed to India the local production of the upgraded T-90MS battle tank, marking the 25th anniversary of the original T-90 agreement. The initiative, from Rosoboronexport, suggests using existing facilities and local components to expedite production. This follows India's commitment in 2019 for 464 T-90MS tanks under the 'Make in India' initiative. The T-90MS features significant enhancements, including improved firepower and protection systems, and aims to bolster India's armored capabilities amid ongoing defense collaboration.

Russia has proposed to assist India in local production of the T-90MS main battle tank, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the T-90 agreement signed on February 15, 2001. This proposal from Rosoboronexport emphasizes utilizing existing facilities for T-90S assembly and local components.
India had previously committed to a $2.8 billion agreement in 2019 for 464 T-90MS tanks under the 'Make in India' initiative. The T-90MS offers improvements in firepower, protection, and mobility over the T-90S.
It features a 125 mm smoothbore gun, advanced fire control systems, and enhanced armor. The initiative aligns with India's goals for self-reliance in defense production and aims to upgrade its armored capabilities amidst ongoing Russo-Indian defense ties.
