Russia's Gas Production Increases by 9% in Early 2026 Amid LNG Growth
In January-February 2026, Russia's gas production rose by 9%, while LNG production grew by 7%. Natural gas output was 112 billion m³, a 10.4% increase year-on-year. Associated gas production fell by 0.8% to 17.2 billion m³. In February 2026, total gas production reached 62.1 billion m³, marking an increase of 11.5% compared to February 2025. LNG production in February 2026 was 2.9 million tons, a 6.2% increase year-on-year. Challenges included a logistic disruption due to a drone attack on LNG transport.

Russia's gas production increased by 9% in January-February 2026, with total output reaching 128.7 billion m³. Natural gas production rose by 10.4% to 112 billion m³, while associated gas output decreased by 0.8%.
In February alone, total gas production was 62.1 billion m³, up 11.5% from February 2025. LNG production was 2.9 million tons in February 2026, a 6.2% increase year-on-year. The rise in LNG production was primarily due to stabilized exports from the Arctic LNG 2 project. However, logistics faced setbacks from an attack on the LNG tanker Arctic Metagaz, impacting operations.
