Rwanda and Ethiopia Strengthen Trade and Infrastructure Cooperation
Rwanda aims to deepen trade and infrastructure cooperation with Ethiopia, acknowledging Ethiopia's military support during Rwanda's historical challenges. Ambassador Charles Karamba noted the shared experiences and professionalism of the Ethiopian contingent as foundational to the partnership.
A joint military commission is overseeing collaboration in defense and security, and the latest Joint Ministerial Commission meeting in 2024 resulted in several memorandums of understanding covering various sectors. Rwanda's exports to Ethiopia are approaching $6 million, while Ethiopian exports to Rwanda surpassed $7 million.
Around 40 Ethiopian companies are active in Rwanda, with investments exceeding $73 million. The partnership reflects a commitment to increasing trade and mutual development.
