S. Korea Allocates 3.4 Trillion Won for Climate Change Technology in 2026
South Korea's investment of 3.4 trillion won (approximately $2.3 billion) in climate change technology represents a 14.1% increase from last year. This funding targets advancements in renewable energy, carbon capture, and climate adaptation technologies.

In 2026, South Korea will allocate 3.4 trillion won for climate change response technology, reflecting a 14.1% rise from the previous year. The investment will focus on carbon-free energy advancements, including 5 billion won for next-generation solar cells and 2.1 billion won for an innovative fusion reactor design.
Additionally, 15.7 billion won will be designated for small modular reactor localization. The plan includes 4.5 billion won for clean hydrogen development and 42.4 billion won for carbon dioxide capture projects.
For adaptation efforts, 5.1 billion won will enhance disaster response technologies, while 7.3 billion won will support a national climate prediction system. This significant funding underscores the government’s commitment to mitigating climate risks and advancing sustainable technologies.
