SADC Humanitarian Relief Exercise Blue Kunene Commences in Namibia
The Southern African Development Community's Blue Kunene exercise aims to enhance rapid disaster response capabilities, involving 1,000 military personnel. Over the next two weeks, the operation will focus on food distribution and medical outreach in the Kunene region, potentially setting a framework for future airlift strategies.

The Blue Kunene exercise, held in Namibia's Oshana Region, involves 1,000 military personnel from various SADC member states. This two-week event focuses on preparing air forces for rapid disaster response and humanitarian aid operations.
It is organized by the Standing Aviation Committee of the SADC-Inter State Defence and Security Committee. Over 400 tons of food aid will be distributed in the Kunene region, specifically targeting Opuwo Rural, Epupa, and Sesfontein.
Medical outreach programs will also address various health issues in the area. The exercise is aligned with the African Union's protocols regarding peace and security and aims to develop a SADC Strategy Airlift Concept for future initiatives.
