Saint-Malo Port Launches Green Hydrogen Initiative
The Port of Saint-Malo will host the StatMobHy green hydrogen trial from March 30 to April 30, 2026, aiming to enhance hydrogen awareness among port workers and demonstrate hydrogen distribution. This initiative reflects the Brittany Region's commitment to reducing carbon emissions in port operations and accelerating the energy transition.

The StatMobHy project at Saint-Malo is set to run from March 30 to April 30, 2026, focusing on introducing green hydrogen for land-based port users. This trial, supported by the Brittany Region, aims to educate port workers on hydrogen safety and technical handling, facilitating the energy transition in ports.
The Brittany Region's hydrogen roadmap, launched in 2021, outlines strategies to position Breton ports as leaders in alternative fuels, including green hydrogen. Challenges such as high costs, insufficient infrastructure, and regulatory issues hinder progress.
The initiative involves partnerships with Edeis Port Saint Malo Cancale for station management, GCK Energy for hydrogen supply, and Energy Observer for communication efforts. Successful outcomes may lead to similar trials in Lorient and Brest.
