Sakhalin-2 LNG Production Reaches 10.3 Million Tonnes in 2025, Up 1%
LNG production at the Sakhalin-2 project increased by 1% to 10.3 million tonnes in 2025, as reported by regional authorities. This output represents 101.1% of the 2024 level. The project, co-owned by Gazprom, Mitsui, and Mitsubishi, primarily serves markets in Japan, South Korea, and China. Scheduled shutdowns and overhauls were executed while adapting to sanctions, ensuring the fulfillment of production plans.

In 2025, LNG production at the Sakhalin-2 project rose by 1% to 10.3 million tonnes, according to regional authorities. This figure is 101.1% of the 2024 output. The increase aligns with previously reported data from Rosstat on LNG production in Russia's Far Eastern Federal District, where Sakhalin-2 is the main contributor.
The project, co-owned by Gazprom, Mitsui, and Mitsubishi, exports LNG mainly to Japan, South Korea, and China. Despite sanctions, the project maintained operations through scheduled shutdowns and transitions to local contractors. Optimization efforts have allowed for increased productivity since its commissioning in 2009.
