Samsung Heavy Industries Localizes LNG Cargo Containment System
Samsung Heavy Industries has localized LNG cargo containment technology, achieving a significant advancement in South Korea's shipbuilding sector. This milestone is marked by the delivery of a 7,500-cubic-meter LNG carrier equipped with the KC-2C system, developed with Korea Line LNG.

Samsung Heavy Industries announced the successful delivery of an LNG carrier featuring the Korean Cargo Containment System (KC-2C), developed in partnership with Korea Line LNG. The vessel completed its inaugural trip transporting LNG from Tongyeong to Jeju Aewol LNG Terminal.
The KC-2C system enhances structural integrity and safety at cryogenic temperatures, expanding possibilities for larger LNG carriers. An agreement to retrofit an existing LNG vessel with this system was signed in August last year.
Notably, the vessel Green Nuri has performed the highest number of LNG bunkering operations domestically, totaling 123. The membrane sheet installation in the cargo tank is a complex aspect of LNG containment construction.
