Sanctuary AI Appoints New CEO Amid Leadership Changes
Sanctuary AI has appointed Friedmann as CEO following significant organizational changes. The company, founded in 2018, specializes in humanoid robotics and has raised over $140 million, highlighting a competitive funding environment in the sector.

Sanctuary AI, known for developing humanoid robots for industrial applications, has appointed Friedmann as CEO, succeeding an unstable leadership phase. The company has raised over $140 million since its inception in 2018 and recently secured additional funding from Zeon, a Japanese chemical company.
The robotics sector is witnessing increased investment, with notable U.S. firms like Figure and Agility Robotics attracting significant financing. Friedmann has prior experience leading MDA for over two decades and transitioned from a similar role at Carbon Engineering, which was sold to Occidental Petroleum for $1.1 billion in August 2023. This leadership change may position Sanctuary better in a rapidly evolving market.
